EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a heart-healthy fat!
Our Extra Virgin Olive Oils are California grown and certified. Being locally grown, the oil is fresh and of excellent quality. All of our Extra Virgin Olive Oils have met rigid standards set by the Olive Oil Commission of California to ensure authenticity of the extra virgin grade.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the cold-pressed result of the first pressing of the olives. It's considered the finest and fruitiest of the olive oils. Extra Virgin Olive Oil can range from a champagne color to greenish-golden to bright green. In general, the deeper the color, the more intense the olive flavor.
Fats are essential to human life. And not all fats are bad. Healthy fats, such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, can have many health benefits. The main type of fat found in Extra Virgin Olive Oil is monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). If your diet replaces saturated and trans fats with unsaturated fats such as MUFAs and polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs), you may gain certain health benefits.
MUFAs and PUFAs may help lower your risk of heart disease by improving related risk factors. MUFAs have been found to lower your total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. MUFAs may also help normalize blood clotting. And some research shows that MUFAs may also benefit insulin levels and blood sugar control, which can be especially helpful if you have Type 2 diabetes. According to the Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA), eating two tablespoons of olive oil a day may reduce the risk of heart disease, due to its monounsaturated fat content.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil also contains polyphenols, a type of health-protective antioxidant, reducing the oxidative stress throughout your body. Like other antioxidants, polyphenols may help fight against aging-related diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and certain types of cancer. In addition to the anti-aging properties of polyphenols, they also contain strong anti-inflammatory properties.
A small amount of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are also present in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which are essential for brain health. Also Vitamin E, which is great for skin health.
